ISLAMABAD, 11 March 2008 – The final report of the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) containing recommendations for the future, will be released in April 2008.
Chief Observer Michael Gahler said that he will visit Pakistan again in April to hand over the final report. “I will come back in April to present the final report to Pakistan’s authorities and election stakeholders,” Gahler said.
The EU EOM core team left Pakistan on 10 March, after observing the consolidation of results, and post election developments, including complaints and appeals.
The EU EOM was in Pakistan from9 December 2007. On the election day the Mission had 131 observers from 23 European Union countries as well as Norway and Canada, including a delegation of seven Members of the European Parliament |
